HÀ NỘI — International relief for people affected by flash floods and landslides following Typhoon Yagi is being delivered to Việt Nam.

The US diplomatic mission in Việt Nam is committed to providing US$1 million in emergency humanitarian aid via the US Agency for International Development (USAID).

The first shipment of disaster relief from the Australian government also arrived in Hà Nội on Wednesday afternoon. The delivery includes blankets, sleeping mats, tarpaulins, mosquito nets and necessities for personal hygiene, cooking and home repair.

Australia has announced an initial aid package worth A$3 million for Việt Nam in response to the aftermath of Typhoon Yagi, including humanitarian assistance, emergency relief supplies and other essential services.

Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio also sends his condolences for the devastating impacts of Typhoon Yagi on Việt Nam, in a letter addressed to his Vietnamese counterpart Phạm Minh Chính via Japan’s ambassador to Việt Nam on Wednesday.

PM Kishida underlines that the Japanese government stands by to help Việt Nam overcome and recover from the consequences of the typhoon.

Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) on Wednesday afternoon is delivering disaster relief supplies to Việt Nam’s Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, including portable water filters and multi-purpose plastic tarpaulins.

ASEAN Coordinating Centre for Humanitarian Assistance on Disaster Management (AHA Centre) is also delivering a basic necessities for people affected by the flash floods and landslides following Typhoon Yagi. — VNS
