General Secretary and President To Lam and Mozambican President Filipe Jacinto Nyusi agreed today (September 9) to strengthen high-level exchanges and cooperation at all levels to enhance political trust and inject new momentum into bilateral relations between Vietnam and Mozambique.

Both leaders reaffirmed the importance of strengthening the traditional relationship between the two ruling parties as a basis soi keo chelsea vs aston villafor the growth of bilateral relations.

They agreed to continue theoretical research, exchange experience, and support each other in cadre training. 

The two leaders also vowed to support each other in international forums and promote each country's cooperation with the other's organizations, such as the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), the African Union (AU), and the Southern African Development Community (SADC).

In economic relations, they highlighted the success of the telecommunications joint venture Movitel, a Mozambican subsidiary of Vietnam's military-owned technology group Viettel, which has actively contributed to the economic development of both countries and brought many benefits to their citizens.

In this regard, President Filipe said he hopes to see more groundbreaking projects like Movitel in the future, and encouraged both sides to explore new opportunities.

In trade, the two sides expected to expand cooperation in the processing of cashew nuts and to build more seafood processing plants in Mozambique while facilitating the entry of each country's key products into the other's markets, including farm produce, textiles, seafood, and coal.

President Nyusi expected more Vietnamese support for Mozambique's agricultural development, especially through trilateral agricultural projects, a model that has been successfully implemented with other African countries.

In addition, the two countries will expand cooperation in education and training.

President Filipe appreciated the expertise of Vietnamese health professionals and noted their contributions to improving Mozambique's health system, not only in treatment but also in capacity building.

To implement the commitments, both sides agreed to enhance the effectiveness of bilateral cooperation mechanisms, such as the Intergovernmental Committee and political consultations, and accelerate the signing of bilateral agreements in the areas of digital transformation and education and training.

On the issue of the South China Sea (which Vietnam refers to as the East Sea), the two leaders shared a common view on the importance of ensuring the safety, security, and freedom of maritime and air navigation. They stressed that disputes should be resolved in accordance with international law, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS 1982).

During the talks, General Secretary and President Lam commended Mozambique and the Frelimo Party for their achievements in maintaining political stability, national unity, reconciliation, and socio-economic development.

He expressed his confidence that President Nyusi's visit will create new momentum and deepen the solidarity, cooperation, and long-standing friendship that generations of leaders and citizens of both nations have nurtured.

For his part, President Filipe Jacinto Nyusi said he was happy to return to Vietnam in his new position and that he admired the country's strong development and growing international profile under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

On this occasion, President Nyusi expressed his condolences on behalf of the Mozambican State and people on the passing of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, a great friend of Mozambique.

He also expressed solidarity with the Vietnamese people affected by the recent typhoon Yagi.

At the meeting, General Secretary and President Lam and President Filipe witnessed the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between Vietnam's Ministry of Industry and Trade and Mozambique's Ministry of Mineral Resources and Energy on cooperation in the energy and mineral sectors, and the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between Vietnam’s Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and Mozambique’s Ministry of Sea, Inland Waters, and Fisheries.
